SkinLogs ("the app") is an educational tool that helps you track skin changes over time and explore general information about skin conditions using AI-assisted image description. This policy explains what data the app handles and why.
SkinLogs is not a medical device and does not diagnose any condition. It does not replace a qualified medical professional. See the in-app disclaimers shown before every scan.
SkinLogs contains no advertising or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs.
Photos, folders, scan history, and reminder settings are stored locally on your device only — nothing about your scans is stored on our servers. Uninstalling the app, or using the in-app "Delete all data" option (Settings, or "Clear all saved data" in the History tab), permanently deletes this local data.
Your account record — email address, password hash, and subscription status — is stored on our server (a Cloudflare Workers deployment) so you can sign in. To request deletion of your account record, contact us at the email below.
When you run a scan, your photo(s) are sent, over an encrypted connection, to a backend we operate solely to relay the request to a third-party AI model for image description — currently Anthropic's Claude. (Our backend can be configured to use a different AI provider, such as Google's Gemini, instead; whichever is active at the time handles the request the same way.) That model's response includes the description, a list of possible named conditions, and, where relevant, references to medical literature — which may include links to PubMed. SkinLogs does not separately query PubMed, Google Search, or any other search engine on your behalf, and no photos or personal data are ever sent to PubMed — any PubMed links shown in your results are just that, links, generated as part of the AI's response for you to optionally open. Photos are processed transiently to generate your result and are not retained by our backend or by us afterward. AI analysis requires an active subscription; signing in and using the rest of the app (scanning, folders, history, planner) does not.
Subscriptions are purchased through Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment card details — Google handles the transaction directly. Our server receives only a purchase token, which it verifies with Google's Play Developer API to activate your subscription.
Results shown in the app may include links to external sites such as PubMed. We don't send any data to those sites ourselves — visiting a link you choose to open is subject to that site's own privacy practices, not ours.
If you turn on rescan reminders for a folder, SkinLogs schedules a local notification on your device at the frequency you choose. This does not involve any server or third party — it's handled entirely by your device's operating system.
SkinLogs is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13.
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and, for material changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to note it in the app's store listing.
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to olams14@gmail.com.
